The Ministère des Transports announces the holding of a new origin-destination survey in the greater region of Québec and Lévis.

The exercise aims to assess citizens’ travel habits and will be carried out in collaboration with the cities of Quebec and Lévis.
Data will be collected in the fall from 40,000 households in the region.
They will also make it possible to measure the effects of telework on the frequency of travel and the modes of transport used.
The last origin-destination survey in the region dates back to 2017.
Asked whether this might postpone the tabling of studies on the third link promised soon by the government, the Minister of Transport, Geneviève Guilbault, made this assertion in writing: “The origin-destination survey is of great relevance in order to plan the development of active, public and road transportation in the greater Quebec City and Lévis region. […] This cooperation will allow us to better develop sustainable mobility and adapt it to the needs of present and future residents of the region.”
An expert in transport planning believes that the government will have to take the results of this study into account in its decisions.
“It is certain that these results are supposed to guide public action. There was the pandemic, we will be able to measure the effects of the pandemic on travel habits, ”explained the professor at the National School of Public Administration Fanny Tremblay-Racicot.
