Vienna (OTS) – On Tuesday, October 31, 2023, the City of Vienna – Road Administration and Road Construction will begin the structural widening of the cycle path in Sonnwendgasse in the section between Uhlandgasse and Gudrunstraße in the 10th district. To provide more shade and cooling, 5 tree discs will be erected, an existing green area will be enlarged and a total of 6 new trees will be planted.
Details
The Cycle Highway South creates a high-quality cycle connection of over 9 kilometers from the city center to Lower Austria. In the future, the route will run from the Kärntner Ring on Argentinierstrasse through the 4th district, past the main train station via Sonnwendgasse, Herndlgasse and Reumannplatz through the 10th district to the city limits. As part of this project, the existing one-way cycle path in Sonnwendgasse between Uhlandgasse and Grudrunstraße will be widened on the outward side of the city.
Traffic measures
The construction work will be carried out while maintaining all turning relationships and at least one lane in each direction.
