After three years, the 10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum will resume offline in October.
According to the official WeChat public account “National Defense Release” of the Chinese Ministry of National Defense, Wu Qian, director of the Information Bureau of the Chinese Ministry of National Defense and spokesperson of the Ministry of National Defense, released the above information at a regular press conference on Thursday (September 28) afternoon.
He said that the 10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum will be held in Beijing from October 29th to 31st. Founded in 2006, the Beijing Xiangshan Forum has always adhered to the spirit of equality, openness, tolerance and mutual learning, and has developed into one of the world’s important security dialogue platforms.
Wu Qian mentioned that the theme of this forum is “Common Security, Lasting Peace”, which focuses on the key cooperation directions of the global security initiative and provides equal opportunities for all parties to discuss security problems, find security strategies, and promote security cooperation.
He said that the forum has set four plenary topics, including “Responsibility of Major Powers and Global Security Cooperation”, “The Role of Developing Countries in Global Security”, “Asia-Pacific Security Architecture: Current Situation and Future”, “Regional Security and Development: Paths and Goals” “, eight group meeting topics, and a number of special seminars such as the “Chinese and Foreign Young Officers and Scholars Seminar” were also arranged.
Wu Qian also introduced that the preparations for the forum are currently progressing in an orderly manner, and official representatives from more than 40 countries and international organizations, as well as many well-known experts and scholars at home and abroad, have confirmed their participation.
Affected by the coronavirus epidemic, the Beijing Xiangshan Forum last held a physical meeting in October 2019.
