Greensboro (North Carolina): The Malayalee Muslim Association of America and Canada has concluded its 10th Annual Conference of North America at Hotel Wyndham Garden in Greensboro. NAIMA US President Mansoor A. Syed inaugurated. He reminded that as people living in North America, special consideration and attention should be paid to the moral upliftment of the family.

He also suggested that weekly meetings might be used for study and discussion classes on various topics. President of North America Niaz K. lighted the program which started with Quran recitation by Muhammad Ajahn. Zubair presided. Suhail Hashim and Amina Shabeen moderated the program.

Then Imam Khalid Griggs, eminent scholar and Director of ICNA Council for Social Justice, spoke on the topic “Witness Unto Mankind”. He opined that the Indian community in America and Canada is a model minority that can work for the good and happy co-existence of the whole human being.

“Illumin” magazine was released in the event as the Decade of Light award. Tasni Jamsheed, president of the Women’s Division of Lakhar, explained regarding the activities of Lakhar. Program Convener Salim Illikal delivered the welcome address and Head of Islamic Center of Triad, Imam Nafes Rishak delivered the exhortation and prayer. The 10th anniversary dinner was followed by Ajmal Cholassery and artistic programs like Oppana Kolkali and Qawwali were led by Wafa Aman, Sarfraz Abdu and Abdul Salam Toronto.

On the second day of the conference, special artistic programs for women and men, break out sessions of various departments such as Laklam Students Forum, Laklam Madrasa, Nextgen etc. were held at the Triad Muslim Center. Raihana Veliyammel and Nisha Jasmin also led the presentation of gifts to the conference delegates.

Abdul Aziz, Secretary of Nalaman North America, thanked the volunteers and conference delegates who helped make the Nalaman Decade celebrations a success.
