1000 spectators at the Salzkammergut derby | Nachrichten.at

More than 1,000 spectators came to watch the first Salzkammergut derby in many years when SV Gmundner Milch beat SV Zebau Bad Ischl 2-0 (0-0). This is no surprise, as the two teams last faced each other in May 2019, before Gmunden moved up to the regional league, which they were able to leave again this year after winning the championship with a clear lead.

Bad Ischl, on the other hand, is now one of the marathon teams in this league, with 13 Upper Austrian league seasons. At the first Upper Austrian league match between the two teams after Ischl’s promotion in 2012, Bad Ischl’s current coach Thomas Heissl was still on the sidelines in Gmunden. With Franjo Dramac, he had a player in his team who was sorely missed in Bad Ischl on Friday after his long injury break, but who is expected to return soon. For Gmunden, the victory should be the starting signal for a successful season after a short period of adjustment. They have made good use of their years in the regional league and are better positioned than ever. The respect of the competition is great. In Bad Ischl, under coach Thomas Heissl, who has been in office for a year now and is also employed at the Bad Ischl Football Business Academy, this one-two is being pushed. The team was also very young against Gmunden. It was clear that the team that would score the first goal would win the game. Leitner’s 1-0 (60th) was followed by Zümrüt’s 2-0 in injury time.

The surprise so far is SU Vortuna Bad Leonfelden. After battling relegation last season, they are now at the top of the table after a 3:2 win over St. Martin. A goal from Stefan Spielbichler in Weißkirchen’s 1:0 win cost opponents Bad Schallerbach the top spot. With a 4:0 win over Ostermiething, second-placed Dietach were able to record a goal difference of 9:1 from the last two rounds.
