1,000 participants in the community “last mile race”.

Abu Dhabi (Al Ittihad)

The second round of the community “Last Mile Race”, which is held in cooperation between the Mada Campaign and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, witnessed the participation of more than 1,000 people, as part of a charitable initiative aimed at spreading awareness and collecting donations in order to eradicate two of the most important neglected tropical diseases.
The sporting event contributed to motivating members of the local community to exercise and maintain their physical fitness, and also gave them the opportunity to lend a helping hand to the charitable initiative that aims to provide support in the most vulnerable communities in the world. All proceeds from the race will go to Mada Campaign, which aims to eradicate river blindness and lymphatic filariasis.

It is worth noting that the “Mada” campaign is an initiative to eradicate two neglected tropical diseases, namely river blindness and lymphatic filariasis. Like other neglected tropical diseases, river blindness and lymphatic filariasis disproportionately affect the world’s most vulnerable people, leaving their families trapped in a cycle of poverty.
The proceeds of the campaign go to the Reaching the Last Mile Fund, which is a multi-donor fund launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and with the support of the Gates Foundation. Treating more than 118 million people in seven countries around the world, and training more than 700,000 workers in the health sector.
