BRESCIA, Italy, March 1, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — HISTORICAL POKER FOR THE RIDER THAT TRIUMPHS ALONGSIDE FABIO SALVINELLI AHEAD OF FONTANELLA-COVELLI AND BELOMETTI-BERGOMI

The longest edition in the history of the 1000 Miglia has come to an end following the teams covered a distance of 2200 kilometers across Italy during the five-day race. From the persistent rain before arriving in Rome to the scorching sun in Alessandria, the participants endured a tour de force, reaching the first stage finish at Cervia-Milano Marittima, before turning in the capital, from where it continued to Parma and headed for the final leg to Milan, with a passage check in Piazza Duomo and arriving at City Life for the final night of the race before arriving in Brescia.

In the end, the reigning champions pulled it off: following overcoming some difficulties on the first followingnoon of the race, they confirmed themselves as a team to beat from the start of the second stage stretch, leaving the battle for second and third places up to them their competitors on the podium. Andrea Vesco won his fourth consecutive title (out of six) and Fabio Salvinelli drew level with Giuliano Canè with three wins. “There were problems at the beginning,” explained Vesco with the engines switched off. “But then we performed consistently with a small number of penalty points. I’ve only achieved such a good result together with my father before. I’m very proud of it to have achieved this historic result.”

In addition to the winner’s 1929 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 SS Zagato, there are also two Lancia Lambda Spider Type 221 on the podium: Gianmario Fontanella and Annamaria Covelli won ahead of Andrea Belometti and Gianluca Bergomi. The best women’s team were Silvia Marini and Irene Dei Tos, who won the Ladies Cup in a 11929 Bugatti T 40 as 27th overall.

The 1000 Miglia Green was won by Paolo Piva and Matteo Ferraglio in a Tesla Model Y ahead of Mirco Magni and Laura Confalonieri in a Polestar 2 and Antonino Azzarello and Stefano Orlandini in a Ford Mustang Mach-E.

Finally, Andrea Milesi and Giordano Mozzi won the Ferrari Tribute 1000 Miglia in an F8 Spider, ahead of Fabrizio Macario and Giovanna Di Costanzo in second place in a 2019 488 Pista. Third place went to Celestino and Antonio Sangiovanni in a 2021 Ferrari Roma.
