The leather market faces a major dilemma… On the one hand, animal leather, the most polluting material requiring tens of cubic meters of water and chemicals. On the other, imitation leathers made mainly of plastic. It is for this reason that alternatives are explored such as that of the vegetable tannery.

Its founder, Fanny Deleage, has developed with her thesis director, Yvan Chalamet, a solution which reconstitutes the molecular structure of leather with biosourced plant proteins, but with similar mechanical properties. The material is also recyclable and biodegradable. Its patent filed in 2020 protects the mixture of three families of products: vegetable proteins, tannins and natural additives.
