“100% electric company cars in 2026”: the observation is relentless, we are still far from the mark

Electricity is not yet attractive to companies. Several obstacles are put forward.

The announcement had the effect of a bomb at the time of the formation of the De Croo government in 2020: the said government intended to accelerate the greening of the fleet of company cars in Belgium so that all cars registered from 1 January 2026 are zero emissions if they want to maintain a favorable tax regime.

In May 2021, the objective was confirmed and the terms of application established: the degressivity of the tax deduction for thermal company vehicles registered following July 2023 was approved. The latter will see their tax advantages decrease to reach a deductibility of 50% in 2026 and 0% in 2028. At the same time, zero-carbon vehicles will see their deductibility capped at 100% in 2026 before gradually decreasing to reach 67.5% deductibility in 2031.
