The trial between Depp and Heard ran from April to June 2022. The actor accused his ex-wife of slander. The reason was in three statements by the actress, published in her article on The Washington Post. Heard later filed a libel counterclaim that involved three allegations by the actor’s lawyer regarding her.
The jury found all three of the actress’s statements regarding Johnny Depp and one statement regarding Amber Heard from her ex-husband’s representative to be defamatory.
The actor was awarded $10 million in damages and the actress $2 million.
