10 Thousand Soldiers Killed, Israel Still Not Victorious Against Hamas

THE Israeli army is far from victory in the Gaza Strip as Tel Aviv continues its deadly assault on the Palestinian enclave since October 7, dozens of Israeli reserve officers said in a letter on Sunday (August 11).

“In recent days, we have been shocked by repeated statements from senior military officials that victory is within sight and that there is a possibility of moving to the targeted attack stage,” said the letter signed by about 100 officers to Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi.

Military officers say the Palestinian resistance factions still have cross-border capabilities such as UAVs, explosive drones and mortars.

“We who come from the field know very well that the situation is far from victory. This is not what victory looks like!” they added.

In February, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told ABC News that victory was within reach. At least 10,000 Israeli soldiers have been killed and wounded since the Gaza conflict began on Oct. 7, according to Israeli media on Sunday.

Ignoring UN Security Council resolutions demanding an immediate ceasefire, Israel has faced international condemnation amid its ongoing brutal attacks on Gaza since the October 7, 2023 attack by Palestinian resistance group Hamas.

Israeli attacks have since killed nearly 39,800 people, mostly women and children, and wounded more than 92,000 others, according to local health authorities.

More than 10 months since Israel’s offensive, much of Gaza remains in ruins amid a crippling blockade on food, clean water and medicine.

Israel was accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which ordered it to immediately halt its military operation in the southern city of Rafah, where more than 1 million Palestinians had sought refuge from the war before it was attacked on May 6. (I-2)
