Tongue cancer treatment
Treatments for tongue cancer usually depend on several factors, including the size and location of the tumor and the extent to which the cancer cells have spread. Treatments include:
1- Surgical intervention usually includes partial or complete removal of the tongue, and in some cases, it includes dissecting the neck and removing lymph nodes, to prevent the risk of the cancer spreading to other areas of the body.
2- Radiation therapy is usually used before surgery to shrink the tumor or after it to kill any remaining cancer cells. In some cases, it is used as a stand-alone treatment, especially if the cancer has spread to other areas.
3- Drug treatments usually include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy.
