10 people died in the fire in the shopping mall, dozens of shops were burnt

A fire broke out in a shopping center located on Rashid Minhas Road in Karachi, as a result of which 10 people have been confirmed dead so far. According to the officials of Jinnah Hospital, 8 dead have been shifted to Jinnah Hospital while one civil and one to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

The deputy director of accident department of Jinnah Hospital said that all the dead and injured are men, whose ages range from 22 to 43 years.

According to fire brigade officials, the fire that broke out at 6 am spread from the sixth floor to the fourth floor of the building, due to which dozens of shops have been burnt, while the power supply to the multi-storied mall and neighboring buildings has been suspended.

Rescue officials say that 42 people have been rescued from the building, but ten people have died as a result of suffocation, while the other 8 people have been shifted to the hospital in a state of unconsciousness. There are also reports.

According to the fire brigade officials, 12 vehicles, 2 snorkels and around 50 fire fighters were engaged in extinguishing the fire.

Officials say that there was difficulty in extinguishing the fire due to the smoke filling the building. Apart from the fire brigade, other rescue agencies are also engaged in rescue operations, but the cause of the fire in the building has not yet been ascertained.
