Underwater empire Schrems
Lower Austria doesn’t just offer you castles, nature parks and mountains – you can also find moors in Austria’s largest federal state in terms of area. The Hochmoor Schrems Nature Park offers you a variety of activities, from winter hikes to mud baths in summer. A highlight – especially with children – is a visit to the UnterWasserReich Schrems. An exhibition awaits you inside where you can learn interesting facts regarding life in the moor. You take a look through the microscope, see the variety of local fish in the aquariums and visit an otter burrow. Speaking of otters: In the outdoor area you can take a look at the otters every day during the feeding shows in the UnterWasserReich.
Danger: The UnterWasserReich is closed in winter. From March 23, 2024 you can visit it once more. You can also walk through the nature park in winter.
