1% of the fleet, but 13% of new registrations

The figures published in the 2021 report of the Office of Vehicles of the Canton of Jura show a reality very different from the “all-electric” world in which the consumer sometimes believes he lives. Only 1% of the motor vehicle fleet runs solely on electric power. This corresponds to 500 cars, next to 1648 hybrid vehicles. Facing them, 42,000 vehicles use fossil fuels, either gasoline (75%) or diesel (25%).
Bad reputation of diesel
Over 10 years, the evolution of the gasoline car fleet has remained very stable, while diesel registrations increased by a third between 2011 and 2016, before stagnating when the VW scandal broke.
