“They gave us, they gave us forty kappas (40,000 euros, ed.) up until today… they offered me a job worth a million.” It is a phrase uttered and intercepted in the investigation into illicit dossiers by the Milan prosecutor’s office. Speaking is Samuele Calamucci, one of those arrested (under house arrest) who refers to an alleged agreement with two men linked to Israeli intelligence. The dialogue takes place within a meeting held on 7 February 2023, in the Equalize headquarters a few steps from Milan Cathedral.
Much of the meeting, we read in an information of almost 3,900 pages in the investigation documents of the Milan DDA prosecutor Francesco De Tommasi, takes place in English, and the topics discussed are numerous: “They range from the monitoring of hacker attacks conducted by organizations close to the Russian government, the monitoring and contrasting of the financing of the Russian mercenary company ‘Wagner group’, the interception of funds and banking movements in Europe and Italy linked to Russian interests and in particular the targeting of a Russian citizen named ‘ Constantine”.
The meeting also deals with “aspects of collaboration regarding access to the respective data sources and information sources but also the possibility of obtaining a (paid) assignment from the Israelis for information activities and operations in the ‘cyber’ domain”. Calamucci on behalf of the group “makes available the data that can be exfiltrated from the national strategic databases and is available for intelligence activities requested upon payment. The Israelis also propose a partnership to the group to transfer to the latter any information that may be of interest for the client Eni Spa. In fact the Israelis are tasked with monitoring and acquiring useful information regarding Amara and Mazzagatti to whom their interests with Iran are explained”.
