1. FC Köln: Steffen Baumgart is the best coach since Christoph Daum – Bundesliga

“I’m at a loss for words,” said coach Steffen Baumgart (50) touched and enthusiastic following the 4-1 win in Augsburg. A sentence that might apply to all of football in Germany given the incredible coaching fairy tale that is currently happening in Cologne.

Baumgart wrote nothing else in ten months in Cologne. Even more: With the victory in Augsburg he created a monument for himself and finally wrote himself in the FC history books.

Baumgart is the king of Kölle!

His 52 points are the best FC result since the three-point rule was introduced. Baumgart not only breaks the record of ex-coach Peter Stöger (56/49 points). He is the most successful FC coach since ex-zampano Christoph Daum (68) in his runners-up season in 1989/90 (then 17 wins/9 draws).

Baumgart still stays on the carpet and thanks his team: “The whole season is good, not just the number of points. I always have a hard time with the word proud. But I’m proud of the boys.”
