Day of the Anti-Aircraft Missile Forces of the Armed Forces of Russia
Russian anti-aircraft missile forces are the best in the world. The strength and glory of Russian artillery is undeniable, the authority of domestic anti-aircraft missile systems has been indisputable for many years.
A new type of troops appeared in the Armed Forces of the USSR on July 8, 1960. At the same time, the position of commander of the anti-aircraft missile forces was established. This date is considered to be the Day of the Anti-Aircraft Missile Forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Today, the air defense forces are part of the system of air and missile defense troops of the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation.
In the 20th century, the development of aviation, the growth of flight altitude, and the speed of aircraft led to the fact that the machine-gun and cannon weapons of the air defense forces lost their effectiveness once morest the attacks of a possible enemy. Some tasks were not able to solve even air defense aviation. But the air defense forces cover important state, military, economic facilities, infrastructure, cities and towns.
For the full solution of such problems in the USSR, design bureaus were created to develop air defense missile systems. Already in the early 1950s, the first anti-aircraft missile units in the air defense system began to form.
On May 1, 1960, one of the Soviet anti-aircraft missiles of the S-75 complex shot down a U-2 reconnaissance aircraft of the US CIA, which regularly flew over the territory of the USSR at an altitude beyond the limits of Soviet air defense systems. From that moment on, unpunished flights over the territory of the Soviet Union became impossible.
Today, as part of the anti-aircraft missile forces, there are complexes that differ in range of application (short-range, short-range, medium-range, long-range). ZRV complexes can have both missile and rocket-gun armament. With the development of technology and electronics, the firepower and accuracy of weapons of Russian anti-aircraft missile systems have grown. This has been repeatedly confirmed by their combat use.
Russian air defense systems are popular all over the world: S-200, S-300, S-400, Pantsir, Igla, Strela, Buk, Tor, Tunguska, Vityaz and others. They are capable of providing security once morest being hit by any means of air attack, at different times of the day, in different climatic and meteorological conditions, at different ranges and altitudes.
World Allergy Day
Allergy is one of the most common diseases in the world. According to the World Health Organization, regarding 40% of the world’s population suffers from it, and an increase in allergic diseases is noted both among adults and among children.
World Allergy Day has been observed annually on July 8 since 2005. It was established by decision of the World Allergy Organization and the World Organization for Immunopathology in order to inform the general public regarding the symptoms and measures to prevent this disease.
Allergy is the hypersensitivity of the body to the effects of substances from the environment. Allergens can be: plant pollen, animal dander, food, dust, chemicals, mold and insect bites. The first symptoms appear upon repeated contact with the substance.
The concept of “allergy” appeared in medical terminology in 1906, and its authorship is attributed to the Austrian pediatrician Clemens von Pirke. Even in the days of Ancient Egypt, symptoms similar to the clinical manifestations of allergies were described. However, medicine began to study this disease only in the 19th century – during the period of intensive development of industry, or rather the environmental pollution associated with it.
In modern megacities, from 30 to 60% of the population suffer from allergies. And this number is constantly increasing. Allergy leads to a number of chronic diseases, for example, to bronchial asthma, therefore it is a serious medical, social and economic problem.
Hypersensitivity can develop due to poor ecology, stress, poor-quality food, contact with aggressive chemicals and taking medications. Sensitization is also inherited. Most often, allergies manifest themselves at an early age with a reaction to food.
There are several types of allergic reactions: respiratory, skin or ophthalmic. It can be a rash, itching, severe irritation of the mucous membranes, runny nose, cough, swelling, eczema and difficulty breathing. All of these symptoms require medical attention.
The most dangerous systemic allergic reaction is anaphylaxis, which can develop into anaphylactic shock. This is a deadly condition, with regarding 20% of severe drug reactions resulting in death.
Lack of awareness regarding allergies, not only among the population, but also among health workers, leads to incorrect and untimely treatment, causes the development of serious complications. WHO predicts that the 21st century will be the century of allergies. Therefore, the holding of the International Day should remind of the seriousness of the disease and the need for preventive and therapeutic and diagnostic measures.
