AT LEAST 80% of Palestinians in Gaza have been forced to flee to the central region, following evacuation orders issued to residents of Rafah and Khan Younis.
“From our assessment, there are regarding 1.8 million, 1.9 million people in (central Gaza),” Col. Elad Goren, head of COGAT’s civil department, said Tuesday (2/7).
Goren added that Israel had ordered people to move to humanitarian points along Gaza’s southwest coast and two refugee camps in central Gaza.
Despite the squalid living conditions and unpredictable Israeli attacks that continue to kill civilians in the area.
The UN says more than a million people have been forced out of Rafah, following many Palestinians seeking refuge in Gaza’s southernmost city were forced to flee Israel’s ground invasion there.
An estimated 250,000 people are now affected by Israel’s latest order to leave areas east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza. (Aljazeera/fer)
