0:0 – LASK took a deserved point from Salzburg

After the 3: 3 against Austria Vienna last weekend, Salzburg sports director Christoph Freund spoke to the players’ conscience, coach Matthias Jaissle called for a “different face” – but LASK was also able to slow down highly motivated Salzburgers.

The hosts had more of the game, but Linz were always dangerous on the counterattack. Moses Usor missed the shot (8′) and was not able to cause problems for goalkeeper Philipp Köhn with his shot (13′), defender Amar Dedic deflected a shot from Keito Nakamura for a corner kick (17′). Then LASK cheered after a dream goal by Maksym Talowjerow in Kreuzeck (20th) – but the goal for a short-term stand-in for the sick Sascha Horvath does not count: Philipp Ziereis was offside in the formation.

Goalkeeper Alexander Schlager saved Salzburg’s best chance brilliantly when Benjamin Sesko appeared in front of him (45′).

Schlager had everything under control

The second half was just as intense as the first. In the closing stages, Salzburg increased the pressure. Junior Adamu failed at Schlager, Marvin Potzmann saved after a rebound from Nicolas Capaldo (82nd). At the beginning of injury time, Köhn intervened in Robert Zulj’s free kick, in return Schlager crowned his strong performance with good reactions in the confusing situation in the penalty area (91′).

Salzburg failed to win at home for the third time in a row. The 2-0 win in Klagenfurt brought Sturm closer to two points. Next Sunday, the direct duel for the lead in the standings will increase in Graz.
