Medellín (Colombia), February 20 (EFE).- The Colombian Águilas Doradas, in their first participation in the Copa Libertadores, drew goalless this Tuesday with the Brazilian Bragantino at the Atanasio Girardot stadium in Medellín, where the first leg was played of Phase 2 of the continental competition.
The first 45 minutes went without emotions and with a golden cast that appealed to order, as announced by coach Hernán Darío ‘Bolillo’ Gómez, but suffered due to passages due to not having the ball and due to the individual ability of Vitinho and Helinho, good job in the first stage.
At minute 2, Eduardo Sasha sent a first warning with his maneuver in the area following a corner kick, then came the response from the Colombian squad with mid-range shots from Mateo Garavito, Jesús Rivas and Jean Pineda.
Then the clearest situations arose, all from ‘Braga’, led by the Portuguese Pedro Caixinha, who was close to opening the scoring in an individual action by Helinho, but his shot went off course when the mark of the Uruguayan Joaquín Varela was taken out, while Vitinho put the ball in danger with a header in the 31st minute.
For the complement, the São Paulo team came out more aggressively and cornered its Colombian rival, responding well with its defense until extinguishing the visitor’s momentum, which Lincoln and the Uruguayan Thiago Borbas might not ignite, bets that made no difference.

Águilas, satisfied with the zero in their goal, played without hurry and attentive to the rival’s error to attack with the speed of Rivas, but they lacked a better reading to finish from the Argentine Agustín Vuletich, who entered in the second half and had two arrivals, In one he mightn’t resolve and in the other goalkeeper Cleiton Schwengber kept the ball following the header.
The last 15 minutes were for the Brazilian team, who benefited from the inclusion of the Uruguayan Ignacio Laquintana, who was decisive in bringing danger to the Dorados area, especially in the dead ball collections.
Already at the end of the game, the Caixinha team had to win once morest Medellín in a corner kick, but Laquintana wasted with the goal at his disposal and Léo Ortiz did not take advantage of the rebound either. And the Uruguayan, a few minutes later, tested the reflexes of the Venezuelan goalkeeper José Contreras, who managed to sustain the final 0-0.
Bragantino and Águilas Doradas will face each other once more next Tuesday, when they face the second leg at the Nabi Abi Chedid stadium, in Sao Paulo, where the qualifier for Phase 3 will be known.
