The “Loch Ness Centre”, a tourist attraction in Scotland, recently invited “aspiring monster hunters” to participate in a “massive surface observation” of Loch Ness on August 26 and 27. More than 200 people have registered to participate in person, and a hundred others virtually, making this research (Scientific research designates in the first place all the actions undertaken with a view to…) the most important since that carried out by the Loch (A loch is a body of water; it can be a lake (freshwater loch) or an arm…) Ness Investigation Bureau in 1972.
Modern reconstruction of the famous fake photo of the Loch Ness Monster from 1934.

However, hopes of discovering a monster seem slim. In 2019, a scientific study revealed no traces (TRACE is a NASA space telescope designed to study the connection between the…) of “monster” DNA, but rather a large amount (The amount is a generic metrology term (count, amount); a scalar, etc. of eel DNA. Moreover, Loch Ness does not have enough nutrients to support a large species (In the life sciences, the species (from the Latin species, “type”) unknown predator, such as a reptile (A reptile ( Reptilia in Latin) is a vertebrate animal, usually…) gigantic.

The myth of the Loch Ness Monster dates back many centuries. This year, we celebrate the 90th anniversary of a famous appearance of Nessie, the name given to the monster, in 1933. Aldie MacKay, then manager of the hotel (A hotel is an establishment offering a paid accommodation service,… .) Drumnadrochit – now the site of the Loch Ness Center – had reported seeing a whale-like “aquatic beast” or “fish (In the classical classification, fish are aquatic vertebrate animals…) (The Whale is a large marine mammal classified in the order of…)” in the lake.

Despite the lack of solid evidence for the existence of the legendary monster, Nessie is world famous and Loch Ness remains a popular tourist destination. This weekend, the Center is offering a variety of activities, including 90-minute “Premium Deepscan” cruises, where guests can join Nessie hunters and use a hydrophone (A hydrophone is an electroacoustic transducer designed to transform, in liquids ,…) to “listen to the sounds of the depths”.

The Center is also implementing new monitoring equipment, including thermal drones with infrared cameras to detect heat in water. Volunteers can observe the surface (A surface usually refers to the superficial layer of an object. The term a…) looking for “unexplained movements”. Although all places are reserved for physical participation (Physics (from the Greek φυσις, nature) is etymologically …), the public can still join the research through a broadcast (In everyday language, the term broadcast refers to a notion of…) live from Lock Ness.

Paul Nixon, chief executive of the Loch Ness Centre, expressed his enthusiasm: “This weekend offers an opportunity to search the waters in a way never before seen, and we can’t wait to see what we find.”
