???? Music, coffee… these little daily pleasures have a surprising effect on our cognitive functions!

Drinking a coffee or listening to music, these simple daily pleasures have the power to make our brain more efficient! This is revealed by a recent study published in the journal Nature Scientific Reports.

This study, conducted by researchers from the NYU Tandon School of Engineering in New York, reveals that these small pleasures directly influence a person’s brain activity, especially when performing tasks that require concentration or to his memory (Generally speaking, memory is the storage of information. It is also remembrance…). To arrive at these conclusions, the researchers used an algorithm called Mindwatch, a new technology (The word technology has two de facto meanings:) evolute (In geometry, the evolute of a plane curve is the locus of its centers of.. .) over the last six years, which allows the analysis of a person’s brain activity from data (In information technology (IT), a data is a basic description, often…) collected by all devices capable of monitoring AED (electrodermal activity).

The people who participated in the tests were equipped with monitoring bracelets and headbands in order to be able to carry out brain measurements, while they had to perform various exercises, while offering them various stimulants. Sometimes they had to sniff perfumes, or listen to music or drink coffee. The tool (A tool is a finalized object used by a living being for the purpose of increasing its sound…) then determined whether these stimulants triggered increased wave activity (A wave is the propagation of a disturbance producing on its passage a reversible variation…) beta, compared to the same people performing the same exercises, without being exposed to these stimulants.

The algorithm revealed that music and coffee measurably altered “brain arousal”, so much so that their performance in exercises that required using their memory was improved. In the case of music, three types were tested: relaxing music, music that is upbeat and familiar to the subject, and music generated by an AI related to the person’s musical tastes. While upbeat music provides greater performance gains than relaxing music, the researchers found that AI-generated music exhibited the greatest effects. This surprising result will give rise to further research. Drinking coffee is an activity that also has performance gains, but less than music.

The algorithm is still under development but the first results of the study are already conclusive. The objective of this research is to contribute to the development of a system that would allow everyone to monitor their own level of cognitive arousal in real time , and thus be able to act to become more efficient.
