RWDM won 2-1 against Eupen. Renaud Emond had opened the scoring in the first moments.
A few months ago, it was a defeat in Eupen that made official the return of the RWDM in D1B. This evening, the Molenbeekois met the Pandas again, this time at the Stade Machtens, for the opening match of the third day of the championship.
The Pandas revived some painful memories by opening the scoring after less than a minute! Mersad Selimbegović’s men thwarted the opponent’s pressure with a beautiful combination on the right flank: Yentl Van Genechten’s cross found Renaud Emond in the small rectangle. The former Standard player didn’t need to be asked twice to score his third goal in three matches (0-1).

Eupen directly in command
A match physiognomy that suited the visitors perfectly: the Alliance did not hesitate to leave possession to RWDM to go deep with its attackers fond of space.
At the half-hour mark, Eupen thought they had taken advantage of a mistake by Sambu Mansoni to make the break: Nuhu entered the game, got a bit tangled up in front of the opposing goalkeeper but could count on Regan Charles-Cook to push the ball into the back of the net with an inspired move with his back to goal. But the Grenadian was immediately flagged offside.
As RWDM struggled to create danger at the end of the first half, the light came from Ilyes Ziani: very active on the left flank, the newcomer combined with Shuto Abe before serving Gaëtan Robailalso the author of his third goal this evening (1-1).
Enough to remobilise Molenbeek: Yannick Ferrera’s men resumed the second half at full speed with several clear chances, including two big misses from Ziani and Laaziri against the opposing goalkeeper.

RWDM almost bit their fingers a few moments later with a big chance for Jérome Deom, who had just replaced Emond, who was also off target (65th).
But Molenbeek’s domination ended up paying off: on a new defensive error by Eupen, Ilyes Ziani found himself alone in the rectangle and this time did not tremble to give the advantage to RWDM (79th). The match pitted two teams against each other that were still undefeated. It was RWDM that remained undefeated, Eupen lost 2-1 and will have to wait for the reception of Zulte Waregem to try to taste victory again.
