The President of the Transition, Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya, opted for roads capable of boosting the country’s growth. This desire for the implementation of a new policy for the development of road and transport infrastructures, real poles that generate growth, is part of the overhaul. Thus, many construction sites were opened as soon as the CNRD took over on September 5, 2021, not only to give a boost to the work, the execution of which was experiencing an unprecedented delay, but also and above all to set in motion new ambitious and gigantic projects to improve the density of the paved network both in Conakry and in the interior of the country.

The inauguration, this Tuesday, April 17, 2023, of the Kagbélen interchange is a perfect illustration of this. This is a 117-meter interchange comprising 5 spans, 4 ramps and their connections to the existing roads, ie more than 2,000 meters of roads. The construction of this concrete bridge made it possible to create more than 3,500 meters of bypass or detour route. The structure also makes it possible to cross the crossroads coming from Sonfonia-Cimenterie on the Le Prince road. This interchange should allow the reduction of the duration of passage at the crossroads of Kagbélen.

In addition to this crossing structure, many other projects are in progress, in particular, the Km36 and Bambéto interchanges, the 126-meter Tanènè toll bridge, the construction of which will reduce the ordeal of users who sometimes face terrible corks to the four metal bridges of Tanènè whose construction dates back to the colonial era.

There will be inaugurations all over the territory given the battery of construction sites in progress in several sectors. The Transitional authorities intend to pursue Guinea’s structural transformation effort by carrying out infrastructure projects essential to our progress towards emergence, by providing the country with a better road and highway network. To achieve this, the Head of State has urged the Government to ensure a minimum objective for the implementation of this vision which is close to his heart.

To further honor his guest, President Mamadi Doumbouya officially baptized the Kagbélen interchange with the name of “Paul Kagamé”, a valuable personality with whom he shares the same convergence of views in terms of development. This historic inauguration was marked by an unprecedented strong mobilization on this site of the populations of Conakry, Coyah and Dubréka. On its route, the presidential motorcade of the two Heads of State received a strong ovation.
