Recently, a woman in her 60s living in the United States was attacked by a fox. The fox suddenly attacked a woman who was talking on the phone in her yard, and the woman was wounded, including biting her hand in the process of pushing her away. As time goes by, symptoms of sudden excitement, anxiety, or depression appear, and even looking at food or water, muscles, especially the neck muscles, spasm and leak. Even just the wind blowing on your face can cause cramps in your neck. As the disease progresses, convulsions, paralysis, coma, and eventually death from respiratory muscle paralysis.
Rabies can be fatal after symptoms appear. If proper preventive measures such as vaccines are not taken, a cure is impossible because symptoms appear only after the rabies virus invades the central nervous system. The use of ventilators can prolong life for a short period of time, but complications arise and eventually lead to death. Almost 100% of patients die within an average of 7 days without treatment and within 25 days even with treatment.
