How is the firefighting operation progressing?
First, regarding two hours ago.
As of 9:00 pm, the third stage of forest fire response has been issued.
Earlier, the fire started at the entrance of Bibongsan Mountain, Yanggu-gun, Gangwon-do, around 3:30 pm today.
Two hours following the fire occurred, the ‘Second Stage of Wildfire Response’ was issued and all-out war was waged by mobilizing all personnel and equipment in the adjacent area.
However, as the fire continued to spread, the level of response was raised in regarding 5 hours once more.
295 crew members have been deployed to establish a defense line to prevent the spread of wildfires and continue to extinguish the fire.
So far, no one has been injured, but regarding 50 nearby residents have been evacuated.

Forest authorities sent a text message telling them to evacuate to the nearest welfare center, etc. in case of emergency twice at 4:30 and 5:30 pm.

Previously, the forest and fire departments issued a ‘second stage of forest fire response’ around 2 pm, an hour following the fire occurred, and 36 firefighting helicopters and 279 manpower were put in.
