While reading the newspaper, I found an article with the word ‘break-up’ in particular. Originally, the word ‘breaking’ is a word originating from Go, and it is an attack method that restricts the movement of the opponent by placing a stone in the center of the opponent’s camp. But now it seems to be used with a lot of meaning changed.
Generation, gender, political orientation, etc. ‘Cutting’ is used in articles, newspapers, and even broadcasts as if it is natural for each other to be hostile to each other. At some point, we hated and hated each other, and we were splitting whether we were on our side or the other side. It’s really sad. Even if they love each other, the media and some polarizing people try to cut everyone in half and put them in each other’s circles.
In recent conversations, I think a lot regarding each word choice. I feel that life has become very uncomfortable. It’s natural to be polite to each other, but it’s just a pity that we have to be divided and shaken like this according to the standards suggested by the media.
We are already divided by numerous criteria. As a divided country under the name of Korea, the country is also divided into two, male and female, and divided into Korea University and Yonsei University prior to the regular Koyeonjeon. It is natural for similar people to gather and separate from each other, but is it necessary to distinguish between good and evil?
When we start ‘separating’ each other into good and evil, I instantly turn the person I love into an enemy just because they have a different political orientation, a different gender, or a different generation. Circumstances that promote hate and discrimination while using the word ‘divide’ should be eliminated.
Rather than creating a society that results in ‘dividing’ each other’s differences, we should strive to create a society where you and I are respected and understood by acknowledging and empathizing with each other. When we do not separate from each other and acknowledge that I am who I am and that you are you, we will become a better society and we will love each other.
