North Korea will hold a plenary meeting of the Labor Party, the highest-level decision-making body, this week.
At the meeting, we will evaluate the projects that have been carried out this year and plan for next year.

On the 1st, North Korea announced that it would hold the second plenary meeting this year and the 13th since Kim Jong-un took power this week.

The Central Committee Plenary Meeting is the highest-level decision-making body that adopts the Labor Party’s main lines and policy directions, and was held at the end of December in 2019 and last year.
At that time, North Korea held a meeting for 4 to 5 days, and then on the next day, January 1, Chairman Kim Jong-un’s remarks at the plenary meeting were released, replacing Chairman Kim’s New Year’s speech.

It is highly likely that they will be encouraged to spur the strategic weapons-related tasks that they have been focusing on this year.
In addition, as there are major political anniversaries next year, such as the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Korean People’s Army, the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the regime, and the 70th anniversary of the armistice agreement, it may be possible to use these anniversaries as an opportunity to raise the level of threat and further highlight the confrontational structure.
