Today (4th) at around 10:20 pm, a forest fire occurred in a mountain near Yeongdong Expressway, Songam-ri, Seongsan-myeon, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do.
After the fire broke out, the forestry authorities are putting in about 200 people and 24 firefighting equipment to put out the fire.
However, it is night and dry weather has continued for several days, and winds of up to 7 m/s are blowing in an instant, making it difficult to evolve.
Currently, in Gangneung, a strong wind warning is issued in the mountainous area along with a drying advisory.
The fire was located near the Yeongdong Expressway Daegwallyeong Rest Area, and the forestry authorities asked nearby residents to evacuate to the Wichon 2-ri Village Hall.
Gangneung City is putting all efforts into preventing the spread by issuing an emergency convening order for all employees, and the forestry authorities are planning to put in additional helicopters as soon as the sun comes up to start the firefighting process.
