Ahead of the 6.1 local elections, the electoral board is getting cloudy.
Recently, three people, including the spouse and aides of Mokpo Mayor Kim Jong-sik, were charged with violating the Public Official Election Act and sent to the prosecution.
The woman who received money and valuables reported it to the National Election Commission and even received a reward, but it turned out that she approached the candidate with the intention of disqualifying the other candidate.

On November 23, last year, in Yeonsan-dong, Mokpo-si, Jeollanam-do, an aide of the Mokpo mayor’s wife delivered 15 boxes of shrimp to Mr. A, a 52-year-old woman.

On November 21, last year, two days earlier, Mr. A received 1 million won in cash from another aide at a similar place.
Person A, who received the money, reported it to the Jeollanam-do Election Commission and even received a reward.
Mokpo Mayor Kim Jong-sik accused Mr. A, saying that it was suspicious that Mr. A approached Mr. B, the wife of Mokpo Mayor, and reported it to the National Election Commission as soon as he received money.

As a result of the investigation, it was found that Mr. A demanded money from Mr. B several times in the name of the election campaign, and even recorded calls and took pictures.
The police applied for an arrest warrant for Mr. A, who is accused of inducing donations for the purpose of disqualifying the other candidate.
Police believe that vehicles were also mobilized for filming around the time the money was delivered, and are investigating whether the owner of the vehicle is an accomplice.

The Jeollanam-do Election Commission, which partially paid a bounty to Mr. A, is considering withdrawing the bounty payment.
