[인터뷰] T1’s ‘Zeus’ Choi Woo-je “3 sets of self-sacrifice, it was a role I should have played”

In the first match of the 6th week of the LCK held on July 21st, T1 defeated Guangdong 2:1 and humiliated the loss in the first round. Choi Woo-je of ‘Zeus’ was honored to be selected as the sole POG by performing perfect play in both carry-support with Ornn and Gragas.

‘Zeus’, who responded to the interview following the match, said that it was not an easy match this time as there were many Guangdong players from T1. He also emphasized that for a play that sacrificed his growth in the third set, it was a play he deserved. He explained that it was frustrating being pushed by Silas, but he focused on supporting Draven and Taliyah because they had to grow in order for the team to win.

Below is the full QA

Q. I wonder how it feels to win today’s match.
Zeus :
I was a little nervous following losing the first set, but I think I’m glad it ended well.

Q. I feel like I have a harder time once morest Guangdong than other teams, what do you think?
Zeus :
Looking at the Guangdong squad, it seems like they know us well because there are many players who were in T1. Also, it seems that Elim has cleverly twisted the movement, causing an accident at the beginning.

Q. What kind of feedback was given to the team following losing the first set?
Zeus :
In the first set, I was able to grow well because I supported T.O.P a lot, but in the dragon fight, I mightn’t communicate as a team, so my momentum collapsed. From the next set, there was talk of playing more meticulously.

Q. In the 2nd set, you played an active part in solo killing Kiin with his right hand. Let me explain the situation at the time.
Zeus :
First of all, we benefited from the fact that we were able to easily get Herald as a team. After that, I used the unsealed spell book to extinguish the flashing of Gangplank by ignition, and I bet the deal exchange was strong, and I think I got a solo kill because of my luck.

Q. In the 3rd set, you sacrificed your growth for the team with Gragas, was it a situation that was mentioned in advance? Also, the opposing Silas was in a great situation, but he wasn’t frustrated.
Zeus :
Rather than talking to each other, we decided that it was a role we had to play ourselves. Since I was a tank, I didn’t need as much gold as the dealer. Rather, I thought that there should be no situation in which Draven or Taliyah might not get gold. From then on, I paid a lot of attention to assisting the mid and bottom. To be honest, it was frustrating because there were so many differences in cs and items with the opposing Silas. Still, I decided not to worry regarding it as much as possible and made up for it in Hanta.

Q. You ranked first with 900 POG points. You’ve been doing amazing things in your debut season. What kind of player do you want to be ultimately?
Zeus :
When I see that player, I want to become a player who has a special power.

Q. Do you have any last words to leave?
Zeus :
It feels good to get revenge on Guangdong, who lost in the first round. I’m getting more POG than I did in the spring season, so it’s hard to feel. I think I’m lucky, and I want to focus on team wins rather than POG and keep good results.
