[이준석 ‘작심 회견’ 후폭풍] “Evil political leader” Lee Cheol-gyu, Kim Byung-wook “established political bombing of Yeouido”

People’s Power Mixed Reaction

In criticism of “the president is likened to dog meat”
Lee Jun-seok “What is it written on?” Rebuttal

On the 13th, the People’s Power insiders confronted Lee Jun-seok during a press conference. While Lee was referred to as an “evil political leader,” there were also claims that “the future came first.” The party refrained from taking a stand and watched the waves.

Rep. Lee Cheol-gyu said on the 14th, “I will make it my political role to prevent President Lee’s actions and prevent an evil political leader from getting involved.” This is in response to President Lee’s statement at the press conference that “We need to cut out Yoon Hak-kwan (a key person in Yoon Seok-yeol’s side).”

Rep. Lee denounced President Lee’s “declaration of candidacy in Seoul and the thirteenth district in the metropolitan area” as “blasphemy once morest local voters.” Regarding the decline in the approval rating of President Yoon Seok-yeol during the transition process of the Emergency Response Committee, CEO Lee said, “Don’t argue with Yang because of the incident caused by Yoon Hek-kwan.” He continued, “(CEO Lee) spoke to him as if he had said ‘this XX’ and ‘that XX’, but President Yoon always gave Lee his honorific title. He said, “It is representative Lee who does not use his title while talking regarding the prosecutor general and the president,” he said.

Former lawmaker Na Kyung-won also said in a social networking service (SNS), “Please don’t try to overcome your own crisis with tears anymore, and don’t create a riot.” Former lawmaker Na said, “If my closest aide wrote a 700 million memorandum of investment, wouldn’t everyone who might know the truth know regarding it?”

Rep. Kim Mi-ae criticized on social media, saying, “I was disciplined by the Ethics Committee for my own work, so why didn’t you say anything regarding it?” When President Lee said, “I was the person who sold dog meat with the head of a sheep,” he said, “It is absurd to compare the candidate for the Sidang president (then) to dog meat.” CEO Lee countered on SNS, saying, “If you’ve seen the press conference, you can’t think of the president as dog meat, but I don’t know what everyone is talking regarding.”

On the other hand, Rep. Kim Byung-wook posted on social media following Lee’s press conference, “(CEO Lee) precision bombed the established political sphere in Yeouido. The cry that the politics of Yeouido should be transformed into a politics that is loyal to values such as freedom, democracy, and human rights will be delivered with a great sound,” he wrote. Rep. Kim Woong left a comment at the press conference saying, “We will move forward.”

Some were cautious. A third-term lawmaker said, “The press conference is meaningless. It is not changing the party’s operation, and the voices supporting and opposing Lee will remain the same,” he said. Another multi-elected lawmaker said, “I wish Chairman Lee would think regarding why the party took such a procedure,” but “(Lee’s) policy suggestions should be accepted if necessary.”
