[이성은 원장 건강칼럼] Genital warts and genital warts spread quickly, recurrence is frequent… Early treatment is important

Misoro Oriental Clinic Suwon Branch Director Lee Seong-eun

Recently, the number of patients suffering from gonorrhea, one of the wart diseases, is rapidly increasing. Gonorrhea is a wart that occurs on the genital area due to infection with human papilloma virus (HPV), also called condyloma.

It is a highly infectious disease that has a 50% chance of being infected through sexual contact, and the incubation period is 3 weeks to 6 months, with skin symptoms appearing on average following 3 months. If you touch the lesion and come into contact with other parts, it can spread to other parts of the body, and in some cases, it can also spread to other people. In most cases of infecting others, it is transmitted through sexual intercourse, but if the immune system is weakened, it can also be transmitted through skin contact in public places such as swimming pools or baths. Therefore, it can rarely occur in children and the elderly with weakened immunity, so you should be careful if you are vulnerable to infection.

In men, it occurs in the furrow of the glans, the entrance to the urethra and around the anus, and in women, the vulva, anus, and cervix. It is shaped like a raspberry or broccoli. Also, although most are asymptomatic, bleeding may occur with slight pain or itching or light irritation.

Genital warts start as small papules in the early stages and are difficult to detect and often reluctant to seek treatment due to the nature of the diseased site. The reason is that, among the wart viruses that cause genital warts, HPV types 16 and 18 are highly related to cervical cancer and are known to cause anal or penile cancer. Second, if the treatment period is missed, the treatment period becomes longer and the possibility of complications, recurrence, and infection increases. Third, if it occurs inside the female genitalia, it is difficult to detect, so many people do not know that it has occurred, and if it grows in size, it may block the vulva or vagina. In addition, if you are preparing for pregnancy or are pregnant, you can become infected through the mouth and nose of the newborn during the delivery process and it can interfere with the delivery process.

After removal, there is a 25-50% chance of recurrence due to the remaining viruses. Therefore, oriental medicine focuses on fundamentally removing the wart virus by enhancing the body’s immunity rather than simply removing external lesions. At this time, herbal medicines tailored to the patient’s constitution and pathological symptoms, acupuncture, acupuncture, and topical application are implemented.

In case of genital warts, thorough hygiene management such as avoiding indiscriminate sex and not scratching the affected area should be performed. In addition, it reduces stress and fatigue, and corrects irregular lifestyle habits such as overeating, excessive drinking and lack of sleep to restore weakened immunity so that the human body can remove the virus by itself. Do not delay treatment for genital warts, which is a genital wart that spreads quickly and recurs frequently, and I hope you can overcome it by strengthening your immunity.
