In order to solve the mystery of chronic pain, a clinical academic information book approached from the point of view of neuroscience and neuroscience has been published.
Shinheung Med Science announced on the 27th that it has recently published ‘A Guide to Pain Approaches and Treatments Understanding Through Neuroscience: Overcoming Chronic Pain’, which contains the brain mechanisms of chronic pain and the pathology of neuropathic diseases.
Chronic pain is not a prolonged acute pain, but rather a pain caused by a change in the brain circuitry. Therefore, it is known that more than 20% of the world’s population suffers from chronic pain because it is difficult to treat chronic pain and the incidence rate is high.
The author, Dr. Michiko HAMBA, commented on the significance of the book, saying, “The doubling of life expectancy is unprecedented in the history of modern humankind, but the long-lived era means that anyone can suffer from chronic pain and neuropathic diseases. do,” he said.
In the book, the author divided the mechanisms of chronic pain into two major explanations from the point of view of the latest science.
The brain mechanism and treatment of chronic pain (chronic low back pain, fibromyalgia, etc.) were dealt with in general, and the pathology and functional structure of neuropathic diseases (such as Parkinson’s disease) caused by chronic inflammation were described later.
In particular, a great deal of weight was given to explain the mechanisms of chronic pain while in-depth treatment of intracerebral mechanisms such as dopamine fluctuations and pain in the brain.
Translated by Dr. Hyo-Jun Jeong (Soo Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic), “Translating the book gave me an opportunity to sympathize with the pain of chronic pain patients and learn hints regarding how to treat them. We will be able to learn regarding diseases and new treatments.”
