As of 2019, adults read only 6 books per year. That’s just reading one book every two months. As a result, stars become book curators themselves, recommend books, and act as a medium to arouse the public’s desire to read. When you look at curated bookstores, the taste of booksellers is usually revealed. Likewise, we hope that you will enjoy exploring the tastes and interests of stars in the curation of stars through the ‘Star’s Book’ corner.

Today’s book ‘Yusa of Yongdam: A Song of God by Soo-Woon’ | Yongok Kim | log
◆’Yu-Dam Yusa’
The thought of Donghak remains intact in two documents, ‘Tokyo Daejeon’ and ‘Yusea of Yongdam’, written by Choi Je-woo himself. ‘Tokyo Daejeon’ is written in pure Chinese, and ‘Yongdam Yusa’ has 4.4 lyrics written in pure Korean. Yongdam is the name of the area where Choi Soo-woon worked near Gyeongju, and Yusa means a song that gives enlightenment. Donghak’s song ‘Yongdam Yusa’, which consists of a total of 8 songs, was able to dig right into the hearts of the people because the lyrics were in Korean. Already in the mid-19th century, Suun had the great idea of communicating his thoughts with the people in Korean Hangeul.
The core ideology of Donghak that Soo-Woon realized and taught, and his unique sensibility are clearly contained in the book. Here, he expresses the overall feeling of his life. ‘Yongdam Yusa’ is a new era in the history of our nation’s thought because we systematized our thoughts in our writings with the sentiments of our nation. ‘Yusa of Yongdam’ saturates the hearts of the people like a river that wets a field, and spread nationwide through transcription and recitation. That was the great shout of the Donghak Peasant Revolution.
◆Why do you recommend ‘Yongdam Yusa’?
“In 1860, Je-woo Choi attains enlightenment at Yongdamjeong in Gyeongju. He writes poetry, sings and dances. You will soon have a lot of followers. It is the beginning of dynamics. I wondered what the song was regarding, but I had no idea. Because the old saying is difficult. However, it was only through this book, which was published by Do-ol this year, that I understood. Choi Je-woo’s lyrics are very psychedelic. He reminds me of William Blake and Jim Morrison. He found the spiritual root that led to the Donghak Revolution and the Trinity Movement.”

Isn’t it the infinite me in this infinite cage? – Heungbi is in the middle
“In William Blake’s poem ‘The Marriage of Heaven and Hell,’ ‘When the door of perception is opened, everything will be seen as it is. Infinite.’ There is a phrase. Here, ‘Infinite’ means ‘Mugung’. If you read Blake and read Choi Je-woo, you can predict the marriage between the West and the East.”
One line review of the warship
“Today, you can meet the spirit of Hallyu, the origin of K-Spirit.”
