Oh Young-soo, who played Yoo Nam in the Netflix series ‘Squid Game’, won the Best Supporting Actor in a TV drama at the 79th Golden Globe Awards held at the Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, LA, USA on the 9th (local time).
Oh Young-soo competed with Billy Crudup and Mark Duplass of ‘The Morning Show’, Kieran Culkin of ‘Succession’ and Berut Goldstein of ‘Ted Lasso’.
Meanwhile, Korean actress Sandra Oh won Best Supporting Actress for her role in the drama ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and Best Actress for ‘Killing Eve’, and Awkwafina won Best Actress for her role in the movie ‘The Farewell’.
No Korean actor has ever won a prize.
‘Squid Game’ is a story regarding challenging the game by risking your life to become the last winner in a mysterious survival game with a prize money of 45.6 billion won. It was nominated for three categories: Best TV Drama, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actor.
The Golden Globe Awards, hosted by the Hollywood Foreign Correspondents Association, were held without spectators due to the spread of the COVID-19 mutation. The winners and winning works were announced through the Golden Globes website and SNS without broadcasting live broadcasts or online live streaming.
