On the 24th, the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office’s Anti-Corruption Investigation Division 2 (Chief Kim Yeong-chul) conducted an additional seizure and search of the National Assembly office of Democratic Party lawmaker Noh Woong-rae, who is suspected of taking bribes and violating the Political Fund Act.

Prosecutors sent prosecutors and investigators to Roh’s office at the National Assembly member’s office this morning to secure e-mail data from his computer.

At the National Assembly Information System Integrated Maintenance Office in the main building of the National Assembly, the computer that Rep. Roh used while he was the 20th National Assembly Science, Technology, Broadcasting and Communications Committee and a server containing related data were also seized and searched for related data.

Rep. Roh is accused of receiving a total of 60 million won (bribery, brokerage bribery, violation of the Political Funds Act) from businessman Park Mo in the name of election expenses for the 21st National Assembly from February to November 2020.

Prosecutors believe that Mr. Park delivered money to Rep. Roh and asked for prompt progress in the actual demand verification process of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport for the logistics complex development project, support for the solar power project, and personnel personnel of the head of the local tax office and Korea East-West Power Co., Ltd. executives.

On the 16th and 18th, the prosecution previously seized and searched his house and the office of the National Assembly. At home, he secured a bundle of regarding 300 million won in cash and is analyzing whether Park’s money is mixed.

Mr. Park is the person who gave 940 million won in the name of illegal political funds to Lee Jung-geun (detained and indicted) former vice secretary general of the Democratic Party.

The prosecution plans to summon and investigate Rep. Roh as a suspect following completing the analysis of confiscated items and the investigation of witnesses.

On the other hand, Rep. Roh’s side protested, saying that the prosecution is investigating ‘stigmatization’.
