[사회]Prosecutors reconsidering whether to suspend the execution of Jung Kyung-shim

Prosecutors are reconsidering whether to suspend the execution of former Dongyang University professor Jeong Kyung-shim, who has been convicted and imprisoned on charges of corruption in children’s entrance exams.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office will hold a deliberation committee on the suspension of execution with the participation of medical personnel and outside persons such as the legal profession from 2 pm on the 4th to discuss whether to accept Professor Jeong’s application.

On the 8th of last month, Professor Jeong re-applied for suspension of execution, saying that he needed surgery and treatment due to herniated disc rupture and paralysis of the lower extremities.

Professor Jeong also applied for suspension of execution in August, but the prosecution did not accept it, saying it was impossible at this stage at the time.

The Criminal Procedure Act stipulates that the execution of imprisonment may be suspended when there is a risk of serious harm to health.
