The prosecution’s investigation into the ‘Seohae public servant shooting case’ is coming to an end.

Following the indictment of former Blue House National Security Office chief Suh Hoon, former presidential chief of staff Noh Young-min and former National Intelligence Service chief Park Ji-won were also summoned and investigated by the prosecution one following another.

Prosecutors are concentrating their efforts on consolidating the suspicion that there was systematic information deletion at the government level at the time.

When Suh Hoon, former head of the National Security Office, was handed over to trial on the 9th, the prosecution detailed the charges of voluntarily fleeing North Korea and ordering the former chief to cover up the murder of a public official in the West Sea in an indictment of more than 100 pages.

However, the charge of ordering to delete intelligence, which was included in the arrest warrant request earlier, was omitted from the indictment.

It was the reason that additional investigations were needed on the process of instructing related ministries, such as the Ministry of National Defense and the National Intelligence Service, to delete information.

Former Minister Seo-wook, who is accused of ordering the erasure of related military intelligence, was also excluded from prosecution.

Instead, the prosecution summoned former presidential chief of staff Noh Young-min and former National Intelligence Service chief Park Ji-won, who attended the Blue House countermeasures meeting at the time, in turn, and intensively questioned whether the systematic ‘deletion of intelligence’ at the government level had been carried out.

In particular, former Director Park, who initially denied the allegations, changed some of his attitude by admitting that the NIS intelligence was deleted following the prosecution’s investigation.

The prosecution, which has completed most of the investigation of the main people involved, is now contemplating the direction of their new recruits.

First of all, in the case of former director Park, it is known that he is reviewing a plan to prosecute without detention along with former Defense Minister Seo-wook, who was released earlier due to a lack of confidence, in that he is elderly and has little fear of escape, such as appearing in public before the prosecution.

However, as former director Park still strongly denies the charge of deleting information, the prosecution is struggling with whether an arrest investigation is necessary.

While prosecuting former director Park and former minister Seo, there are observations that the prosecution may additionally prosecute former chief Seo’s “instruction to delete intelligence” charges.
