[사회]Honey, don’t open that file… ‘Smishing’ aimed at cacao confusion

Cyber attacks aimed at the chaos due to the cacao eating situation, you need to be careful.

Recently, a case of text fraud ‘smishing’ has been caught.

The Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency also issued a warning saying that hacking emails and smishing text messages that abused the Kakao service failure are being distributed.

After sending an e-mail impersonating Kakao, it induces the installation of a malicious program disguised as the KakaoTalk installation file. Is it the same as the real file name?

If you download and run the file without any doubt, your account information such as ID and password may be leaked or you may be hacked.

The site is urgently blocked.

You should also watch out for text messages.

They say that they verify users due to a KakaoTalk problem, and they induce logins from phishing sites that impersonate Kakao.

At this time, if a malicious app is installed on the smartphone, financial information may be exposed, leading to financial damage.

They also send messages to re-install Kakao service by impersonating a public institution ‘Notification Talk’.

Clicking the attached link installs a malicious app.

The real KakaoTalk notification talk contains the KakaoTalk authentication mark, so it is recommended to check it.

In order to prevent such smishing damage, you must first suspect the call-to-action link and check whether the linked site address is normal.

Also, avoid opening attachments from unknown sources in emails.

It is also helpful to periodically update the antivirus on your smartphone and computer to prevent damage.

Kakao also issued a notice to caution, saying, “We do not require a separate file installation or login to a new site during the disaster recovery process.”

Another way to prevent damage is to immediately delete a call-to-action or email from an unknown sender.

Also, if damage has occurred, such as being infected with malicious code, it is recommended to report it to the Korea Internet & Security Agency and take action.
