As a result of YTN coverage, it was confirmed that some of the fire hydrants essential for early extinguishing were missing in Incheon Hyundai Market, where a large fire broke out.
After removing the existing fire hydrant due to nearby redevelopment work, it was not installed for 5 months, but the merchants claim that the fire was raised because there was no fire hydrant.

Every corner of Hyundai Market’s store was burned to the ground and collapsed.
In particular, the damage was concentrated in the vicinity of vegetable shops.
I have visited the area myself.
Strangely, the fire hydrant, which is only 10 meters away from the fire site, is filled with concrete.
Previously, there was a fire hydrant here.
A fire hydrant is a facility that connects a fire hose to supply water, and is very important for early firefighting.
Around the place where the fire hydrant was installed, only the fire hose is lying on the floor, as if it was not used at the time of the fire.
Merchants complain that it was difficult to extinguish the fire in the early stages because there were no fire hydrants when the fire broke out.

So why did the fire hydrant disappear?
The reason why the fire hydrant is missing is because of the apartment redevelopment project going on next to Hyundai Market in Incheon.
In August of last year, the demolition company of the redevelopment association requested the Central Fire Station to select a new location for the fire hydrant, and two months later, an official letter was sent to the fire department confirming that it would be installed in a new location.
However, after that, it was neglected for five months without installing a new fire hydrant.
The Incheon Central Fire Station also did not nail a specific installation deadline or confirm installation.
There is no provision in the current law to enforce this.
