Jongwon Park, Director of Anapa Neurology

Now, it is more difficult to find someone who has never been infected with COVID-19, and even if it has been successfully treated, there are many cases of complaining of various sequelae following Corona. One of the typical symptoms along with the loss of taste or smell is ‘Brain Fog’, which is named because of the symptoms of being dazed and unable to concentrate all day, as if the head is full of fog.

Brain fog has no characteristic symptoms, so it is difficult to distinguish it from depression or dementia. It is a complex state of symptoms accompanied by symptoms such as decreased concentration, memory loss, fatigue, and depression. After recovery from COVID-19, symptoms such as insomnia, headache, decreased energy or lethargy, forgetfulness, poor concentration, and slight depression are common and are neglected. If you do, you have a high risk of developing dementia, so you need to be very careful.

In particular, there must have been times when you might not remember certain words during a conversation, you might not concentrate when reading letters, and you might have felt uncomfortable in your daily life due to irregular sleep patterns and slurred pronunciation. If these symptoms are occurring, it is important to suspect brain fog and receive treatment at an early stage. α1) The method of improving immune function through injection is also used.

Brain fog is difficult to distinguish from depression or dementia, so it should be diagnosed through consultation with a specialist. Creating a lifestyle that strengthens immunity through regular and adequate sleep and rest, and appropriate exercise and physical activity is a great help in improving brain fog.
