Global online video service (OTT) Netflix announced that the last participant was recruited for the realistic version of ‘Squid Game’, which is waged with a prize of 4.56 million dollars (regarding 6.357 billion won).
On the 17th, Netflix Korea, through its YouTube account, released a video of recruiting the last participants for ‘Squid Game: The Challenge’, a reality version of ‘Squid Game’.
The program is conducted in a way that 456 participants compete in a game that appears in the drama ‘Squid Game’ for a prize of $4.56 million. New games added by Netflix will also be included.
Anyone over the age of 21 who speaks English can participate in the program, which will consist of a total of 10 episodes, and will be held in the UK for up to four weeks early next year. Except for the death of the participants, the rules of the original ‘Squid Game’ drama will be taken as it is.
The last person to win a prize of $4.56 million. This is said to be the largest prize money in the history of a reality show. All participants who are eliminated in the middle must return empty-handed.
“All participants, win or lose, will leave uninjured, but if they win, they will win big,” a Netflix spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, ‘Squid Game’ is the story of participants playing a survival game to win a prize of 45.6 billion won, and since its release in September last year, it was recorded as the highest-grossing work in Netflix history. In addition, at the 74th Emmy Awards, for the first time in a non-English-speaking drama, director Hwang Dong-hyuk and Lee Jung-jae were awarded Best Director and Best Actor, respectively.
