Exports of grains from Ukraine have been smooth since the Black Sea grain export agreement to solve the global food crisis.

However, exports of grains and fertilizers from Russia have not been made, and UN Secretary-General Guterres personally urged governments and the private sector to cooperate in exporting grains and fertilizers from Russia.

On the 20th local time, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres visited the Joint Coordination Center for the Implementation of the Black Sea Grain Export Agreement in Istanbul, Turkey.

The day before, I visited Odessa, Ukraine and toured the export site of Ukrainian grain, followed by the inspection site of grain transport vessels.

Secretary-General Kuterres said that 650,000 tons of Ukrainian grain have been exported through the Black Sea grain export agreement mediated by the United Nations and Turkiye so far, and he hopes that implementation of the agreement will lead to peace.

However, he expressed concern over the lack of exports of Russian grain and fertilizers, another part of the Black Sea grain export agreement.

He pointed out that Russian grain and fertilizer exports are necessary to resolve the global food crisis, and that there are obstacles and difficulties in transportation, insurance and finance, even though they are not subject to international sanctions.

He also called for cooperation from governments and the private sector in Ukraine and Russia, saying that securing more food and fertilizer is very important for market stability and falling prices.

Earlier, Russian President Putin repeatedly called for full implementation of the Black Sea grain export agreement in a phone call with French President Macron.
