On the evening of the 14th local time, an explosion occurred in a coal mine in the Amasra region of the Black Sea coast of Turikie.

About 100 people were working underground at the time of the accident.

People close to the ground were quickly evacuated or rescued, but at least 28 people were found dead.

Eleven people who were rescued and taken to hospital are also said to be in critical condition, so the death toll is expected to rise.

Turkish authorities have rescued more than 50 people, but said 15 people are still trapped in the collapsed tunnel.

In particular, it is said that the tunnel where they are located is on fire, making it difficult to access.

It is believed that the accident occurred when the methane gas in the underground tunnel caught fire.

Rescue workers were sent in and rescue operations were carried out overnight, and the families of the missing people stayed up all night eagerly waiting for news of the rescue.

President Erdogan Turkiye canceled all schedules and headed to the site of the accident, issuing a statement saying he hoped the miners would be found alive.
