The G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, held amid tensions due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, was tainted with word-of-mouth battles between major powers.
Moreover, the meeting took place amidst chaos as news of the assassination of former Prime Minister Abe was spread during the meeting.

As the Russian foreign minister enters the G20 meeting room, voices condemning the invasion of Ukraine are heard.

The meeting of the G20 foreign ministers began with an appeal that the war in Ukraine should end as soon as possible.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov resigned himself following being booed during a speech.
Even outside the conference hall, each country held bilateral talks with each other and played an off-site war of words.
US Secretary of State Tony Blincoln blamed the recent food and energy crisis for a Russian invasion.

Russia held separate talks with China before the start of the plenary session and denounced US sanctions.

Meanwhile, during the G20 meeting, news of the assassination of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe spread and the meeting room was chaotic.

A high-profile meeting between the foreign ministers of the United States and China is due to take place this weekend.
Prior to this, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the two countries agreed to maintain the communication channel through a video call first.
The United States and China agree on avoiding an accidental clash at this foreign ministers’ meeting, but are expected to face sharply on the Taiwan issue.
