[국제]Russia demonstrates cooperation with China in ‘armed protests’ during oil tanker defense drills in East China

[앵커]

Russia recently conducted a tanker defense drill in the East China Sea in response to U.S. oil export sanctions.

It appears to be showing off cooperation with China by holding armed protests in the East China Sea.

Correspondent Kang Seong-woong reports from Beijing.

The Russian destroyer Panteleev recently trained to prevent a hypothetical missile attack on an oil tanker.

They are trying to show their will to break through the US sanctions on oil exports, even by mobilizing military force.

The training area is the East China Sea between Taiwan and Jeju Island.

Sino-Japanese territorial disputes

The armed protests here are also calculated as a display of Sino-Russia cooperation.

On the day the news of the Russian Navy’s training was reported, China and Russia discussed the situation in Ukraine.

Russian Ambassador to Beijing Denisov had an exclusive meeting with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng.

It is highly likely that Ambassador Denisov explained the situation in Ukraine at this meeting and sought cooperation from China.

China has criticized the US and the West, saying arms aid to Ukraine is aggravating the situation.

From Ukraine’s point of view, China’s complete opposition to arms support is the same as supporting Russia.

China, which had been neutral in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, is increasingly clearly on Russia’s side.
