While the ‘Ukrainian genocide’ by the Russian military has become an international problem, the situation in southern Mariupol is known to be more serious.
The attacks that have continued for over a month have destroyed the entire city and killed many residents, but the Russian side has burned bodies to hide war crimes and even blocked humanitarian access from international organizations.

Residents of Mariupol push their bodies wrapped in plastic into pits.
Bodies that cannot be moved to the cemetery are buried on the street or in open spaces in residential areas.

Mariupol is a strategic point linking Donbas, which is controlled by pro-Russian rebels, and Crimea, annexed by Russia.
Russia has been besieging it for over a month and has been pouring out indiscriminate attacks to take it.
As a result, 90% of the entire city was destroyed and turned into ruins.
Mariupol authorities estimate that thousands of civilians were killed by Russian forces.
Moreover, the Russian military said the bodies were being burned to remove evidence of such war crimes.

Currently, more than 130,000 people in Mariupol are still isolated and unable to escape.
Electricity, water and heating have all been cut off and they are suffering from shortages of food and medicine.

Humanitarian aid is desperately needed, but the Russian side is blocking access to international organizations.
The Ukrainian side said they were blocking the news of the situation in Mariupol, accusing the Russians of turning the entire city into a ‘death camp’.
