Former National Security Office Director Seo Hoon, who is currently in the United States, said he would return to Korea to cooperate with the investigation as soon as preparations for the prosecution’s investigation are complete.
An official from Seo’s side said in a phone call with Yonhap News on the 15th, “As previously stated, Seo will return to Korea as soon as it is ready.”
Seo has been accused of falsifying whether or not Lee Dae-joon, a public official who was killed by North Korea at the time of the murder of a public official in the West Sea, was falsified by Mr. Lee’s family.
After resigning from the post of chief security officer, Seo is staying in the United States at the invitation of an American think tank.
The prosecution, which is investigating the murder of a public official in the West Sea, announced on the same day that it had banned the departure of former National Intelligence Service Director Park Ji-won, while taking measures so that the fact might be automatically notified to the prosecution upon entering the country.
While there are speculations that such measures will speed up the prosecution’s investigation, Seo, who is considered a key figure in the investigation, seems to have expressed his will to actively respond to the passport offensive.
In a statement delivered to the media last month, former Chief of Staff Seo said, “We will do our best to find out the facts and cooperate as necessary.”
